I had to work Wednesday night so I missed Jimmy. I did however catch them the last time they played the Comfort Zone. I'm sure the show kicked Wednesday night. I think they are one of the best Canjam bands that I've seen, and I've seen a lot of good Canadian bands. What I like is that they take fresh/interesting approaches to improvising. Anyone on this site should make a point of catching these guys.

I caught them last Monday in Kitchener and was totally captivated by their show. I had seen them two years ago with an entirely different line-up and this version is nothing like what I remember.

Craig Mercer is a wicked wicked guitarist and he definitely has his own style (its hard to say that about anyone anymore) and the songs are hookier than any other "jamband" in Canada. One thing that struck me most was how well each member (keys, 2 guitars, d & B) knew their roles within the jams (which comprised of the majority of the performance). The jams were massively varied - very repetitve in the "trance/fusion" sort of way but with frequent shifts to new repetitions. The fluxuations and ebbing beats made for a seriously interesting and attention-demanding show.

These guys have been at it for a long time and it seems that the trial and error process that time alots has squirted out a tight, interesting, intense band.

couldn't have said it better myself!

I saw then 5 yrs ago for the first time when I was a freshman at Dalhousie out in Halifax. I was totally blown away that Halifax had a jamband at the time, a good one at that too! Before they were called Pornagraphic Funk Station. As for their lead guitarist Craig, I find his guitar sound hints at early Iron Maiden with a slice of Santana on speed.

nice guys too. I really hope they get the attention they deserve soon!!

I saw them Wednesday at the Zone and Friday at Le Swimming in Montreal. Both shows were really good. Friday was particularly interesting. Due to the vibe of the bar (semi classy, kind of jazzy sort of place), they kind of played for the vibe with not a whole lot of rocking out. The first set was pretty much all instramental jams, and the second set they squeezed in a couple rockers.

By the way... KUNG: I think he was talking about Jimmy Swift Band, not Wooderson. I'm sure you know that. Maybe you meant to say "P.F.Station"?

Lived in Halifax for seven wooderson years and must have seen them a hundred or more times. So many different line-ups it's like Spinal Tap. But Craig and Mike (bass) have stayed with it and Craig is a great songwriter in addition to being a unique and gifted guitarist. I caught them last Tuesday at the Ebar in Guelph, only the first set but was thoroughly impressed. Alot of material, well crafted off their new releast Now They Will No We Were Here. They played an old song of there's that could be very annoying Ah Yeah, but they played it supply and did an Uplifting Jam (their name) at the end of it. They mentioned doing a jam of something of Satriani's Surfing With The Alien after maybe Worlds Collide. I've got the setlist I should put it up. Their album sounds like a really good show and actually bears repeat listening, really radio friendly in alot of ways. Craig said they weren't doing much covers but that they occasionally did a Sly and the Family Stone tune, recently did the Cult's Wildflower (Edie Ciao Baby! would be sweet). Craig wanted to start doing Jesus Jones Right Here Right Now (suits his voice) and something else I've forgotten.
