gentlemonkey
relevant article..Jam bands plan summer in Bonnaroo By Ken Barnes, USA TODAYThe jam-band subculture hopes to dive into the mainstream this summer. Two prominent promoters in the "grass-roots rock community," Superfly and A.C. Entertainment, will stage the first annual Bonnaroo camping and musical festival June 21-23 near Manchester, Tenn. Most of the confirmed artists — including Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, Galactic, Gov't Mule and Phish head Trey Anastasio — are jam-band stalwarts who often draw big crowds while escaping mainstream notice. Rounding out the bill are such eclectic artists as Ben Harper, the Blind Boys of Alabama and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.Superfly's Jonathan Meyers hopes that Bonnaroo will become "an annual event that represents the ultimate summer music experience." Ms.Huxtable
Well, I've filled out my Vacation Request Form, and headin' out to Tennesee! What a line-up!I think we all need to consider a bus...really. The drive is disgustingly long.
Asparagus
21 hours by mapquest figuring. That's a long drive. Maybe it's a drive you can enjoy, ie. stop along the way, enjoy the scenery, highway, truckstop, adopt-a-highway signs, etc.
jaybone
Man, ever since I saw the line up I've just been imagining all the special guests and collaborations that are bound to go down. This I'm sure is gonna be massive with too much good music to choose from. I have mixed emotions about the big-ass festivals but let's hope they do this right and it goes off well. Anyone else up for a side trip to Graceland?
backbacon
came across this link during my US PH MB lurking: Bonnaroo Forum: http://www.bonnaroo.com/cgi-bin/forum.pl there looks to be some typical mb idoits there already so watch out for them.
