Jaimoe
The great photographer and Ottawa's treasure to the world will be missed, although 93 years is a good run. That Churchill picture is unbelievable. Same with Einstein. R.I.P. Karsh.
MarcO
Here's an obit: Yousuf Karsh I had seen many of his portraits, but have to admit I had never realized they were all part of one man's (a Canadian of Turkish descent) portfolio. And you're correct to point out that Churchill photo, Jaimoe; very intense. You'll read that Kursh had all of two minutes to take that photo, and all he asked of Churchill was to remove his cigar from his face. Churchill was, apparently, unpleased. h
i didnt know this bit of trivia... ".... he and his late brother Malak, a famous landscape photographer in his own right whose famous photograph of logs floating down the Ottawa River once graced the back of the Canadian one-dollar bill while his brother's portrait of Queen Elizabeth graced the front." i think thats very cool
