The 2002 edition of the festival promises to be our most varied and distinctive to date, and it will offer a genuine celebration of musical surprise, innovation, and community-building. We'll be presenting world-class artists in unique configurations and intimate performance and workshop settings. In particular, the Festival will feature a number of large-scale projects. New this year also is the first part of a two year thematic focus on cross-disciplinary collaborations (involving jazz and dance, jazz and poetry, jazz and film, jazz and storytelling). This will culminate in 2003 with a 10th year anniversary celebration, featuring a number of new projects, including a specially commissioned jazz opera.
