Smokestack is a powerful eclectic groove quartet hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Smokestack’s members have all studied music at the collegiate level and are dedicated to musical professionalism. Within the jazz realm, Smokestack's members have had the opportunity to study with jazz greats such as Roy Haynes, Rufus Reid, Terry Lynne Carrington, John Clayton, Dennis Wilson, and Matt Michaels. The band consistently maintains a rigorous touring schedule and focuses all attention towards creating a unique live show experience.

Smokestack’s sound is rooted in the jazz, Latin, rock, and bluegrass traditions. Since their formation in 1998, Smokestack has performed with popular national acts such as the Jerry Garcia Band, The Slip, Strangefolk, Umphrey’s McGee, The OM Trio, The Global Funk Council, Larry McCray, and Howie Day. In addition, Smokestack will be performing with The Dark Star Orchestra, The Big Wu, Keller Williams, Jazz Mandolin Project and Ekoostik Hookah this summer at the Black River Music Festival in Lesterville, MO. Smokestack will also be touring in Colorado for 3 weeks this summer with stops in other western states such as Nebraska and Kansas along the way. Following this tour, Smokestack will be performing at the 4th annual Blackhawk Farms Festival in Illinois. Through continual growth in their music and fan base, Smokestack is quickly achieving national recognition as an up and coming improvisational band.
