The Asthmatic Horn Section returns

Hey y'all, greetings from Chicago.

Just got back from Scofield Denson at the House of Blues, possibly the best venue I've ever seen a show at... imagine Barrymore's but built with Columbia Tristar financing and hundreds of thousands of $$$ in sound + lights... Scofield and band sounded amazing, did mostly Uberjam material. He was doing a ton of looping tricks tonight. A real treat to see the man in that setting... I believe capacity is 1200, it was close to full.

Oh and I almost forgot, Karl Denson played too..... YEAH RIGHT!!! The Tiny Universe threw down the funk all night long... seriously kicked my ass!

Anyways, don't forget that The Asthatic Horn Section will be re-emerging this Saturday at Dekcuf in Ottawa. We never know who will be in the band or what we might play until showtime! Always an interesting experiment... Then we get to see Canadian Jazz Composer of the Year - Nick Ali in action, should be a fun night...

All the best from the mid-west.

I've also heard a rumour or two about this show, something about a possible cure for the Horns' asthma...

This show is, I think, going to be killer: The AHS alone will be worth the price of admission ($6, IIRC), but add Nick Ali's trio into the mix, and it's a no-brainer. (And, after the rather low turnout for the Nick Ali & Cruzao show during the jazz fest [due in large part to the weather, and the rather staid Ottawa jazz fest crowds], I think it would be nice to show Ali what a good show at Dekcuf can be like.)

Who's in?

Aloha,

Brad
