— LONDON (Reuters) - Radiohead won Q Magazine's "Best Act in the World Today" award Monday for the second year running.

The five-member band from Oxford warded off stiff competition from U2, Stereophonics and Coldplay to win the magazine's most prestigious award for their critically acclaimed album "Amnesiac."

Coldplay, one of the few current British bands achieving success in the U.S. charts, picked up the Best Album award for the second year running for "A Rush of Blood to the Head."

Sugababes took Best Single Award for "Freak Like Me," Best Video award went to Pink for "Get the Party Started" and the Best Live Act went to the Hives.

There was no joy for Oasis who walked away empty-handed after being nominated for Best Single, Best Live Act and Best Act in the World Today. They won Best Act in 1996 and 1997.

The Q Awards, now in their 13th year, celebrate what readers believe is the best music of the year and tries to avoid the influence of the traditional mainstream music industry.
