CyberHippie
Can anyone reccomend a decent sound card for under $150? Currently I have like a $20 cheapy, it's an EDIO SC1938, which uses the ESS Solo-1 chipset. It works but I'm thinking I could do better and was thinking about upgrading (xmas is coming). Seems like SoundBlaster has a million different variations. I just want to be able to listen to music and have it sound REALLY good!
Basher
Being in the computer biz I would say that the value of a high-end sound card is WAY overrated. Invest in good speakers or patching to your stereo instead. I assume you have no use for digital audio out, which would only be of value when listening to a digital audio source (like a DVD). My 2 cents. Brian
Asparagus
I just picked up a new system, and it happened it came with a SoundBlaster Audigy. It's not the new one with the front end i/o, digital out etc., however, it does deliver good sound from the speakers I have. Of course, if we're being honest, I have to say that it really still isn't good enough, the speakers need to be upped too. I think the Audigy goes for ~$100.
