kung
Hard to believe this is true but yes apparently the String Cheese Incident are playing Lollapalooza this year. Would explain why Perry Farrell played at the Jammies with them. I sincerely hope there is a riot when they subject the audience to their luke warm urine drizzle. Other artists include Morrissey, Flaming Lips and Sonic Youth (you know credible artists). Here's the link.
Irie Guy
Huh, that's a whacked lineup. Smiths Yeah, Morrisey Nah!!
zimmerman pt3
Lola's washed up. It should just start fresh, not try and rehash past glories. Isn't it to be a 2-day event? My prediction: it's going to bomb!

Del
Hold on, hold on... The Flaming Lips credible? Avant gard, unique, whatever, but not credible.

Del
Not trying to "start something", but I don't think the Lips can be considered credible. Just my opinion, not me trying to "push the facts"... I don't particularly like the Lips, which may or may not influence my thoughts on the subject, but I don't think it's fair to lump them into the same category as Sonic Youth or Morrisey... Not a Lips vs. Cheese debate at all, in fact I'm quite against them both playing Lollapalooza, and against the rebirth of the festival in general. I don't want anything remotely associated with our scene involved with it. As much as I love Jane's Addiction and Porno For Pyros, respect Perry Farrell as a musician and businessman, and thank him for some great memories (my first concert ever was Lollapalooza '91), I'm certain this venture will fail. Too bad for Perry, really, I was hoping he'd put together a mind blowing line-up and create a little bit of the magic he did back in '91 and '92. With the line up as is, Cheese or not , I don't think I'll be attending...
NewRider
"credible" artists wouldn't play Line-up-of-losers. I actually really like the Lips and Sonic Youth but unfortunately I believe both bands are begging for an audiance since both have played the biggest of corporate sham festivals of all time. Why bother buying their albums? Why not just show up to Coca-Cola's head office and write your cheque there instead of ticketmaster. I love the music, hate the bullshit politics of peddlin' music!
