Nero :)

The Rheostatics :D :D

Blue Quarter :)

Stephen Franke ::

Luther Wright

Threat

Drums and Tuba ::

Spearhead :)

and

Vorcza ::

And all this gets is a meh?!?!? YOu have got to be kidding. Finally a music festival that isn't afraid to mix it up. This is the best of both worlds. And it wasn't just this post, I saw the same thing on the hub.

Here's my blow by blow on why this lineup kind of bites

Spearhead with Micheal Franti

(whoopdeedoo more of a reflection of Jim Dorey's connection to the artist than anything reminds me of Bullfrog headlining a few years ago although they pulled it off so go figure)

Jimmy Swift Band

(kick ass but typical)

Rheostatics

(Excellent Choice)

The Trews

(Do I even have to say)

Duane Andrews

(can't say don't know the guy)

Vorcza Trio

(Yahoo it's a guy from Trey's bands band)

Drums & Tuba

(Kick Ass)

Grand Theft Bus

(Kick ass but typical)

New Shady Groove

(Good band apparently mucho bad namo)

Mellowtones

(Tony Smith and the Mellowtones are a matinee style R&B band that everyone in Halifax has seen ONCE for a reason)

Stephan Franke

(Hear good things)

Luther Wright

(Yahoo I did a country version of the Wall and all my other shit sucks. Just book Cuff The Duke for your alt country factor)

All of Green

(All Hail the mid tier maritime jambands)

Kaejema

(I'll show you where to kaejam it)

Threat From Outer Space

(Good)

Universal Soul

(Good)

Nero

(Excellent when sober)

Blue Quarter

(Good)

High Plains Drifter

(It's the Antigonish Band kids! And Jay Cleary's in it!)

Caution Jam

(Good)

Hu Noo

(Hometown heroes)

Chris and Kate

(Kings and Queens)

Burt Neilson Band

(The Granola Funk Express has arrived!)

GRADE: C +

Luke,

Whats up man? Even for my tastes, you are especially bitter today. For a small time festival in Canada, how can you top this? Furthermore, not only Canada it is in Cape Breton! How many kids from across the country are going to come out if they booked some bigger more expensive names. I mean we know the throngs would come if it were the Cheese, but how many more really?

They have put together a diverse, talented lineup of musicians and are featuring Canadian acts.

Plus, I have lived out here for nearly three years and have yet to see any promoter convince the Rheos to come this way. And they are worth the price of admission alone.

Maybe you don't like some of the bands, but all in all that is a GREAT lineup.

Individual tastes are plain crazy eh? Imagine....

I see a solid line-up as Canadian fests go,but for my tastes I just can't be around that many DJs,to make the trip to CB anyway.Rather then go there and not be into the whole fest,I'll opt for a canoe trip into the woods.

{edit to add}

ps.

There's also the fact that I am going to try and make the DCMF this year (fingers crossed) and if I make that trip it maybe awhile before I return or want to anyway,my focus is purely on DCMF.But if I do I can be 100% sure I won't be able to afford Evolve.

May be true that I'm a tad bitter but I'm really coming at it from the rationale for dropping the better part of a grand to go out there that weekend. There isn't one artist on that bill I couldn't see much easier and cheaper in Ontario. It's just not what I expected for the fifth anniversary. I really thought they were going to up the ante- if anything this is a lateral move.

I don't know....

After the MMW fiasco last year and the Shaker disaster this year.... this may be the wave of the future.

And your point and mine were essentially the same, I just happen to live out here. I would go to this festival just to see the bands I have yet to catch since moving here (Blue Quarter, Rheos, Stephen Franke, etc.)
