Ronstadt Booed and Booted

Mon, Jul 19 2004

(Lss Vegas - AP) Singer Linda Ronstadt not only got booed, she got the boot after lauding filmmaker Michael Moore and his new movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" during a performance at the Aladdin hotel-casino. Before singing "Desperado" for an encore Saturday night, the 58-year-old rocker called Moore a "great American patriot" and "someone who is spreading the truth." She also encouraged everybody to see the documentary about President Bush Ronstadt's comments drew loud boos and some of the 4,500 people in attendance stormed out of the theater. People also tore down concert posters and tossed cocktails into the air. "It was a very ugly scene," Aladdin President Bill Timmins told The Associated Press. "She praised him and all of a sudden all bedlam broke loose." Timmins, who is British and was watching the show, decided Ronstadt had to go - for good. Timmins said he didn't allow Ronstadt back in her luxury suite and she was escorted off the property. Ronstadt's antics "spoiled a wonderful evening for our guests and we had to do something about it," Timmins said.

Timmins said it was the first time he sent a performer packing. "As long as I'm here, she's not going to play," Timmins said. Ronstadt had been booked to play the Aladdin for only one show.

Calls to Ronstadt's manager were not immediately returned. In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal before the show, Ronstadt said "I keep hoping that if I'm annoying enough to them, they won't hire me back." Looks like she got her wish.

I saw linda ronstadt sing on the muppet show (re-run from the late 70s I assume) a week or so ago. She was quite good. I haven't really heard much from her (except that duet with that unich football player with the giant mole - "I don't know much..."). She rocked the muppet show though

That was Bryan Adams back in the day... Wow..

Usually I'd say my first concert was Simon and Garfunkel / Gordon Lightfoot / Blue Rodeo at Skydome sometime in 93, but no, that Warnes / Cocker was the *real* first concert.

I'm just trying to keep this alive to drive Booche further insane... Blah Blah Blah... Talky Talky Talky...

:P

Bunch of Elaines, the lot of ya.

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?

You been out ridin' fences for so long now

Oh, you're a hard one

I know that you got your reasons

These things that are pleasin' you

Can hurt you somehow

Don't you draw the queen of diamonds boy

She'll beat you if she's able

You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet

Now it seems to me, some fine things

Have been laid upon your table

But you only want the ones that you can't get

Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger

Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home

And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'

Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?

The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine

It's hard to tell the night time from the day

You're losin' all your highs and lows

Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?

Come down from your fences, open the gate

It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you

You better let somebody love you, before it's too late

Jaimoe, this is exactly why I dont like to be near you at 'shows'

jabber-jabber-jabber

Doesnt even matter if it is Derek Trucks onstage, you feel your voice is more important, and most of it is *bs* anyways.

Now, in the immortal words of Steve Kimock:

Shut the fu©k up

I am trying to listen to the song.

Always loved Linda Ronstadt, and now I love her even more.

Linda got the Eagles together by having those guys together in her backing band in 1971, hence the "Desperado" cover.

I hope the song is over now Booche, I wouldn't want to ruin it for you.

She did amazing backing vocal work on Neil Young's 1972 "Harvest" and twenty years later on "Harvest Moon." She has also covered Neil with an amazing rendition of "Birds" in the seventies. And again recording a Grammy winning performance of "After The Gold Rush" on the "Trio II" album with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton.

Because I love to ramble about Neil Young, I can't wait until Michael Moore does the new video for "Rockin' In The Free World." It should be amazing.

Plow King Jingle:

-------------------------

Linda Ronstadt:

When the snow starts a-fallin'

There's a man you should be callin'

That's KL5-4796,

Let it ring!

Mr. Plow is a loser,

And I think he is a boozer,

Barney & Linda:

So you better make that call to the Plow King!

Mr. Plow Jingle (Spanish version):

--------------------------------------------------

Linda Ronstadt:

Senor Plow no es macho,

Es solamente un borracho...
