Both groups are best-known for their mix of hip-hop and rare jazz grooves, but what sets these groups apart is their own interpretation of these influences and genres. Montreal's Kobayashi is an eight piece group who's sound is amalgamation of electronica, jazz, hip-hop and orchestral undertones, while The Quartertones, a 6-piece project, explores a more urban electronic sound with a live DJ. I can't wait to get my hands on the video tapes.. The Slip, Vorzca, JSB, GTB, Spearhead, Bassnectar, Nero and Hot Toddy rocked me... will you be able to make it out to the show? he're a picture of the Quartertones lead singer Katherine Bates... heady wife prospect for ya!
