thatpatguy
hey all.. this is really only of concern for people in Ottawa. I'm putting a band together and I need a drummer (at least that's all I need right now). At it's roots the band is going to be a funk band, but I want to approach the music "like a jamband" if you know what I mean. I'm thinking something along the lines of DJ Logic's Project Logic, Galactic and Karl Denson's Tiny Universe So.. if you are as much into James Brown as you are Phish.. lets get together. Anyone and everyone can email me at thatpatguy at gmail dot com thanks for your time

bONES
i'm a relatively new and crappy drummer, who lives no where near Ottawa So.. if you are as much into James Brown as you are Phish.. lets get together. and i'm not into either of the above that much, so... if the band wants to relocate to the boonies and play country music let me know

bradm
I just had an idea: distributed drumming. The idea is not to have a dedicated drummer, but instead have each band member do what Xavier Rudd does, namely tap a foot (or both feet) on a box or pad to play a portion of the song's beat/pulse. You could even hand out trigger pads to selected members of the audience to change/augment the rhythm(s) of the songs, a la Phish's "big ball" jams... OK, maybe we could just find a funky drummer... Aloha, Brad
thatpatguy
ha ha!! do you remember those "body rock" drum pads that you'd strap on to your legs and arms and then smack yourself around for a rhythm? we need someone doing that.. and I'm thinking Velvet is the perfect candidate! SaggyBalls
if you can rock disturbed drumming you'll be it. good luck finding a good funky drummer in ottawa, especially one that would be able to spend copious amounts of time on an internet messageboard.
