Drawbar
Holy smokes! Lots of action on this one. I dropped the guys a line to see about the acoustic thing. It's up to them now. I have a feeling that this show will be loud. Full of electricity. Josh

bradm
Is this likely to get messy? I think it will start out with pockets of messiness dispersed, seemingly at random, throughout the venue; as the evening progresses, these pockets will expand, join, blend and feed off of each other, split up, move around, rotate, not unlike galaxies in the space-time continuum, until, like the Cosmic Microwave Background, a measurable amount of messiness will pervade the entire scene. whiteymuseum
Here's the time-line for tonight... 4:30pm Casbah Lounge opens to the frantic knocking at the lounge door from 'paisley' who's in dire need of green beer. 4:31pm Once settled in, the green beer is flowing, and the realization occurs that for the next 3 hours it's only gonna cost him $3 a pop. 7:30pm The venue doors open for an early concert featuring HARRY MANX. Although the sound proofing between the venue and the lounge is solid, during the quiet moments during Mr.Manx's set fans can hear the faint cries of a 'witty hippie-like gentlemen' in the other room begging for the bartender to keep servin' the $3 entrees. 10:30pm Out goes the Manx-maniacs, and in comes the Fattie-fury. Dance and be merry. 2:30am 'paisley' wakes up from a passed out stooper on a ledge in the lounge ready to get his dance on. But wait? What? Ah well, there's always PJC next month

whiteymuseum
\/\/illy, There is not an 'opening band' per se. Harry Manx is a SEPARATE concert (doors 7:30, show 8:00-10:00). While the Fatties 'doors' is anywhere between 10 & 10:30pm. Fatties will be doin' their usual two set thang.

\/\/illy
Okay, let me get this straight: This dude... ...plays this thing: Apparently... "The Mohan Veena is a highly modified archtop that is played lap-style. It has 19 strings: three melody strings and four drone strings coming out of the peg heads, and 12 sympathetic strong to tuners mounted to a piece of wood added to the side of the neck. The melody strings are on what we would consider the treble side of the neck, and the drone strings are on the bass side. The drone strings are lower in height than the melody strings to allow for unrestricted playing of the melody strings. The sympathetic strings run underneath the melody and drone strings to yet another level in the bridge. The instrument has a carved spruced top, mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck, and a flat, fretless, rosewood fingerboard. The Mohan Veena is under tremendous tension; the total strings pull to be in excess of 500 pounds. It is due to this high tension the tone tuns incredible with the sympathetic ringing out and strengthening each note played. This is a loud instrument made to cut through with low amplification." AdamH
Harry Manx is incredible. It won't rage like a Fat Cats show but he is a gifted man in his own right.
