Stills Preps First Solo CD In 14 Years

By Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Stephen Stills' first solo album since 1991's "Stills Alone" will arrive Aug. 9 via Pyramid. The 13-track "Man Alive" finds the artist augmented on two songs each by familiar names Neil Young ("Round the Bend," "Different Man") and Graham Nash ("Feed the People," "Wounded World"). Herbie Hancock guests on closer "Spanish Suite."

Stills says he's been working on the project for 10 years, but found himself giving away material to other projects. "Graham, David [Crosby] or Neil kept wanting songs," he says. "Finally, about two years ago, I decided not to give away any more music until I had finished this CD."

The artist will unveil some of the new material during Crosby, Stills & Nash's summer North American tour, which kicks off July 23 in Florence, Mass., and wraps Sept. 17 in Las Vegas.

Here is the track list for "Man Alive":

"Ain't It Always"

"Feed the People" featuring Graham Nash

"Hearts Gate"

"Round the Bend" featuring Neil Young

"I Don't Get It"

"Around Us"

"Old Man Trouble"

"Different Man" featuring Neil Young

"Piece of Me"

"Drivin' Thunder"

"Wounded World" featuring Graham Nash

"Acadienne"

"Spanish Suite" featuring Herbie Hancock
