Cant blame leafs and Sens fans for talking shit about the Habs. It helps them deal with the complete and utter letdown their teams bring them every year. While the Habs have been quietly rebuilding over the past few years, the Leafs and Sens have been stroking their fans collective genitelia year after year, only to leave them feverishly unsatisfied by ending each year with something as climactic as a huge fart.

The Montreal Canadiens are apparently very interested in obtaining the services of offensive winger Miroslav Satan, TFP has learned.

In conjunction with a report by RDS.ca, Canada's French version of ESPN, the Canadiens have offered Satan a contract, along with four other teams.

The Islanders won the Satan sweepstakes.

It looks like the Habs have signed defenseman Mark Streit to a one year contract. Streit is the captain of the Swiss national team, collecting 43 points in 44 matches with the Lions of Zurich. Streit was drafted in the 9th round in 2004.

However the official announcement is pending an NHL settlement of a compensation agreement with the IIHF... not too sure what that is about.

With that signing, it gives Montreal 5 defensemen under contract, with Andre Markov hopefully to follow to complete the backstop.

Pierre Dagenais is a decent french-canadian winger. And we all know how much the Habs love their french-canadians... On veut Vincent!!!!

It has come to my attention that another french-canadian, one Martin St. Louis is still a restricted free agent. Could we see Lecavalier and St. Louis traded to Montreal for Koivu, Ryder, Markov, and some draft picks?

That would be awesome.

It got torn to shreds at my new job. I think I've been having a continuous nervous breakdown for about a week straight now.

So you're saying that you wouldn't want to see Vicent and Martin in Habs jerseys?

Rumours persist regarding a Theodore for Luongo trade...

From the Montreal Gazette: "There's nothing better than a good hockey rumour on a hot summer day. Rumours are difficult to uncover in Montreal, where Habs general manager Bob Gainey operates under a cloak of secrecy that would be the envy of the CIA."

From Sportnet: "A report in the Montreal Gazette says rumours are flying about a deal brewing between Montreal and Florida which would see the teams switch goaltenders.

The rumoured deal would send Montreal native Roberto Luongo to Montreal for former Hart Trophy and Vezina Trophy winner Jose Theodore.

Florida's insistence of the inclusion of Calder Trophy finalist Michael Ryder is the sticking point for the deal."

Ok. Back from vacation (kinda)... Markov signed... good... Here's some pictures:

Now... The fact that Theodore and Ryder haven't signed yet is really making me believe that a big trade is coming soon.

Stephane Quintal has announced his retirement from the NHL. He was last traded from Montreal to Los Angeles in June 2004, but never ended up playing a single game for his last team. Apparently the only team he was really interested in playing with was Montreal, but they weren't showing any interest in him, so he decided to call it quits.
