dave-O
Here's the new economic system at work! Looks like the small market Canadian team can now afford to pay a player like Pronger. Obviously, the Oilers had to give up quite a bit in Brewer, who's 4 years younger than Pronger. Keep 'em coming.
dave-O
In other Alberta news, the Flames signed Tony Amonte and Darren McCarty on Tuesday.
Jaimoe
The thing with Brewer is that he would be unrestircted after next year. Great move for the Oilers, plus the Blues could get great quality with a Pronger deal.
dave-O
Pronger was also set to be unrestricted after next year. The Oilers signed him to a five year contract extension for $6.25-million per year today.
Jaimoe
Ottawa goaltending " legend " and " former " ESPN commentator Darren Pang said an hour ago that Pronger and Keith Tkachuk did not get along and it was an escalating issue. Pronger was marketable and the Blues could get quality back if they traded him. Keith would get next to nothing on the open market. The Blues have gotten stingy with the money since the lock-out, even though they are owned by the godless Walmart franchise.
