Jay Funk Dawg
Thomas Mapfumo was supposed to perform at the EL Mocambo tonight, but his band was detained at the boarder... because of previous drug charges. The band has decided to cancell, however the El Mocambo will stay open, offer a free cover, with DJ BON-DE performing afrobeat and afropop hits.Refunds at Point of Purchase and at the EL Mocambo.sorry for any inconvience this may have caused. hamilton
Probaly because 50-Cent applied for a waiver (or whatever) in advance, and this other dude didn't.

Jay Funk Dawg
Turns out Mapfuomo doesn't currently have a manager and was orchestrating the entire concert himself. This would have been a detail he didn't not take into account.

hamilton
if it were only that easy.Isn't it, though? I mean, if you are on a business deal (or some other legitimate qualification), and you are an American citizen crosiing into Canada? I recall that they turned away Martha Stewart a few months ago for having a criminal record. The government comment was, "She didn't apply for the proper waiver [or exemption, or whatever]. If she had applied, I'm sure she would have been permitted." A week or two later, having filed the proper paperwork, she came into Canada legally. secondtube
its about a three year process, to be let into the states, with the waiver.
