I just came accross this. I don't ski, but maybe this will interest some of you Ottawa dwellers.

Agency: Ottawa: Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing

Cause: Removing the barriers to skiing for persons with a disability!

Activity: Volunteer Skiers Needed

We are looking for volunteers to be ski partners for disabled skiers taking an 8 week ski program at local ski areas.

You will be provided with:

* Training clinic

* Ski improvement sessions

* Lift tickets

Your assistance is required on either Saturdays or Sundays (9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.) during January and February. You should be able to commit to at least 6 of these days. You should be an intermediate or better skier or advanced snow boarder with your own equipment and speak either official language.

I do this same program in Toronto, its called Track 3. I start next week, can't wait. I am not a volunteer, one of the instructors.

It is a great oppertunity for kids with developmental disabilities to learn a new skill.

Its a super challanging program for the staff as we need to tailor our teaching to the kids and it sometimes takes a couple of weeks to get into the groove.
