timouse Posted January 10, 2006 Report Share Posted January 10, 2006 i remember seeing stats about the energy input required to support all the turf grass in north america. it was insane...the numbers elude me but i'm sure that more energy input went in to lawns than to enything else... we ripped up the grass in most of our front yard & planted native drought tolerant plants...after a couple years it's starting to look awesome, and the neighbours are beginning to follow...yay! (apparently we should qualify, "turf grass")i guess i could have predicted that with my incredible powers of (grass influenced) prediction. YearsAlongTheSea Posted January 10, 2006 Report Share Posted January 10, 2006 I wouldn't be suprised if a map of Canada looked quite similar to that in terms of grass to population density. i.e. Grass is in abundance up and down the Northeast seaboard (no shock there), in L.A., the coasts of Florida, oh, and that little oasis called Las Vegas.
