Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins Rabbit Fur Coat Team Love This delightful collection of tunes from Jenny Lewis, lead singer of Rilo Kiley, is a far cry from the usual wry rock charm that permeates her full time output. Instead, Lewis brought together members of Bright Eyes (including Conor Oberst), Head of Femur, M. Ward and Death Cab for Cutie for an acoustic, traditional country-picking treat. Filled with opulent Appalachian harmonies, backwoods melodic twang and her trademark lyrical honesty, Rabbit Fur Coat is an early front runner for country album of the year, emerging from the least likely of country artists. Still, despite growing up in Los Angeles, Lewis’ voice is as dusty as Loretta Lynn’s dripping with the cries of inebriation from the local watering hole.
