Former Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio will open the first eight shows, which, as previously reported, will be followed by six double-bills with Pearl Jam through July 2-3 in Denver.A second leg in July and August will feature the Allman Brothers Band; at deadline, only four of those shows have been confirmed and will also feature the Derek Trucks Band. A third leg with opening acts to be announced will get underway in September and encompass a Sept. 17 headlining appearance at the Austin City Limits Festival.In related news, the new Petty songs "Saving Grace" and "Big Weekend" will premiere as part of the NBA playoffs telecasts, beginning Saturday (April 22) on ABC and ESPN. The tracks will be found on Petty's upcoming solo album, "Highway Companion," due this summer.Other familiar Petty tunes such as "Learning to Fly," "I Won't Back Down" and "Runnin' Down a Dream" will be heard in the opening segments of the broadcasts. afro poppa Posted April 20, 2006 Report Share Posted April 20, 2006 I saw Petty at Darien Lake with the Black Crowes opening and I didnt enjoy it too much (Petty anyway, the Crowes were sweet)...I dunno, I could predict his entire setlist and for some reason that bothered me...
