bradm Posted October 18, 2006 Report Share Posted October 18, 2006 Douglas Hofstadter (author of "Godel, Escher, Bach") ran an interesting contest once: the prize was some huge amount of (virtual) money, and you could enter as often as you wanted (to enter, you sent in your name, along with how many times you wanted to enter). The catch was that the actual amount awarded was the intial prize money, divided by the total number of entries.So if you wanted to win, it's easy: send in your name with a huge number, like a googol or a googolplex. But the more times you enter, the smaller the award.
