BEER!!

Nice recommendation on the Winter brews Esau!

I took a break from my mid-week hiatus and enjoyed the St Pete's Winter Ale while watching a silly movie (Hot Tub Time Machine). I also smoked a little something, which I almost never do!

Tasty beer.

You, my friend, are officially old. Smoking and having a beer on a week night is now something to write about.

What would circa 2000 Jaybone say to you right now? :)

He probably would'a said something like this

"Damn you Brad for booking this great week of shows during one of my busiest weeks of school!! If I had any sense of responsiblity I would be at home studying and writing essays instead of partying and getting down at these shows. But being as I am me (irresponsible as hell)...I'll be at most of the shows."

Has anyone tried the "Ola Dubh"? It's a beer from Scotland, and spends time in casks that had been used to hold Highland Park whisky. There's one that uses the 16-year-old-HP casks (i.e., they kept Highland Park whisky in them for 16 years, bottled the whisky, then stashed the beer in them for a while), one that uses that 30-y-o casks, and one that uses 40-year-old casks.

Aloha,

Brad

Nørrebro Bryghus Bombay Pale Ale, $7.50 for 600 mL bottle, 6.5% ABV @ the LCBO

"Nørrebro Bryghus opened in September 2003 and was founded by ex-Carlsberg brewmaster Anders Kissmeyer."

Very pricey but you get a high quality pale ale. I won't buy it regularly at this price but you won't be disappointed with the taste if you're a fan of true pale ales.

As a fan of pale ales, I was a bit disappointed.

I guess I have gotten used to the US style hoppiness (like Siera Nevada). I won't be shelling out for them again.

Rossolee brought a half keg of 116947.jpg

to the Superbowl party. I had tasted it in bottle and thought it was pretty good, but on tap, it was delicious. Rossolee mentioned that he had heard that Great Lakes upped the hops on this brew lately and it shows. Super tasty and it was finished shortly before half time.
