IF you'd like to try what many connoisseurs consider to be the finest beer in the world, you'll have to get out your wallet.

A six-pack of Westvleteren 12, a Belgian strong ale with 10 per cent alcohol, will set you back $85 (including a pair of beer glasses) at a Manitoba Liquor Control Commission outlet, or a little more than $96 with taxes. That works out to more than $16 per 330-millilitre bottle.

Hawaiian Style Pale Ale by Spearhead Brewing is now available at the LCBO on Richmond Road, and I'm sure at other locations. See lcbo.com for details.

WOW, do I ever love this beer! My favourite new beer in a long time. I hope this becomes a regular offering... for now I'm buying up all the stock I can find.

I'm loving Boneshaker by Amsterdam lately. It has some serious hops. I've never been an Amsterdam fan but this beer is tasty.

Available at the Richmond and Hampton Park LCBOs in Ottawa that I know of. Yes, this is a seriously good beer. Easily the best thing Amsterdam has ever brewed.

Great IPA and I agree about your Amsterdam assessment.

Brewery set to bring bold flavours to the heart of Hintonburg

Also of note is the name of the brewmaster: Shane Clark. :)

Aloha,

Brad

Will we indeed be able to taste a BTP beer at the Ottawa Brewery Market tomorrow?

Saturday, October 13, from noon to 8pm.

List of breweries here: http://brewerymarket.com/ottawa-brewery-market-will-be-the-largest-one-yet/

I think Union 613 is supposed to be there with some fried chicken too.

Outdoors, at 1000 Wellington St. West, at the corner of Irving (current empty lot of the Wally Becker garage)
