on location in High Park

yesterday afternoon the doorbell rang.

I went to answer it and it turns out it was this location scout for commercials.

he's doing a commercial for Budweiser and he was looking for a place where it looks like 2 guys sit around, watch hockey and drink beer.

I guess we fit the bill.

he took some pictures of the place and then said he'd get back to us..

he did say that the place looked like what the director was looking for.

the best part is that if we are chosen, we get some cash.

... turns out that his director wants to see the place today.

what would you all do?

would you give up your apt for a couple of days?

anyone have any experience with something like this?

If it's legit, they've got full insurance and will repair and "damage" that has to be done to the unit for filming (often bust holes in walls for camera angles, etc.)

Lock up your valuables, sit back and enjoy. Be sure to find out if there will be any beer babes in the ad, lock up your valuables, and be sure to get some sort of payment in free beers too .

we had the same experience at our place on Ossington....the gal took some shots, told us they'd need to paint it all black (and then re-paint to original again afterwards) and that we'd get about 3 grand for our troubles ....meaning we'd have to move EVEYTHING (including ourselves) out of the main floor for 3+ days.

it was tempting at the time, but as it turned out, they found another location.

In hindsight, I was glad we didn't have to do all that moving.

still, it'd be a cool experience...hoping it works out the way you want it to!

free beers would be cool, but it sounds like they would be free budweisers.

yeah I think the guy said that they place would be insured and that they would pay for/fix any damage.

locking up the valuables is a must, the fact that things could get broken or go missing is what worries me most.

All you have to do is ask the dude what company he works for and a number to call - you can easily check out the company on the internet too. If the shoot needs exteriors, then they'll hire a plain-clothes cop will working too.

If the shoot needs exteriors' date=' then they'll hire a plain-clothes cop will working too.[/quote']

Which would make hiding the interesting recreational glassware even more important...

Aloha,

Brad

that was quite casually done by myself when he came up to look at the place, man I was smooth!

thanks for the heads up.

this is good news.

I am expecting an email from my roommate any minute now to see whether or not our place has been chosen.

the location scout said yesterday that even if we aren't chosen that he's going to buy us a case of beer for being cool about the whole thing.... so at least there will be free beer.

still sounds like a porn shoot to me ... if they show up with a big pail labeled Astroglide you may wanna reconsider ...

reconsider??? the only thing I'd reconsider is my career choice and start to think, "maybe acting isn't such a bad idea."
