Gr8 thread! Lots of listening for me 2 do!

But back to some jamming!

Canadian:

lightsweetcrude <- Ravi Shankar + Jerry's Love Child in band form... Instro, and killin' studio tracks! Plus deadly live...

The Starfires <- Another instro jamband, all covers - they really jam! And do a gr8 "Dark Star" + "Bird Song"

Also from TO, not jammy, but tight punk-pop tunes!

Chang-A-Lang

And not new or Canadian, but on my iPod right now...

Pretty Lights

Keep 'em Comin'!

I see they played the Ottawa Blues fest a few years back

"The third recording from Vancouver's The Breakmen draws on influences of alt-country, bluegrass, old-time, vintage Neil Young, and Grateful Dead circa Workingman's Dead to create a West Coast music sound that has muscle and resonance" - Tony Montague, Georgia Straight, Vancouver

The Cadillac Lounge hosted these guys for a month or so back in '09 so, not real new and not Canadiana but I think fairly unheard of here. They loved Sammy, he made sure they didn't starve. When I saw them they were all like, 17 yrs old!

They keep gaining ground in the UK and I'm rooting for them to go LARGE. Last I heard they turned down Simon for a chance to be on his UK Dog Show. Good on 'em.

Jackie Treehorn is a funkadelic/soultastic/rockaphonic seven-piece soundstorm

Whiskey Chief will slap you in the face and throw you on the dance floor with their funky jams and savage grooves.

Big Country Ramblers play banjo picks dancing around guitar licks

The Chantrelles play killer soul music a la Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings, Sam and Dave and the like.
