Big Wooly Mammoth
[blurb]The NEW DEAL morphs into "The JOIN" for spring and summer showsGreetings all,Spring has sprung and we have some different news to share from the New Deal camp. Best way to describe it would be to read our recent press release sent out into the world a few days ago:the NEW DEAL announces a metamorphosis into “The JOINâ€.The New Deal, a pioneer of the “livetronica†sound and a mainstay in both the Electronic and Jamband scenes for close to eight years, was recently faced with the possibility of having to cancel their upcoming California tour due to Dan Kurtz’s increasingly busy schedule with his new pop project “Dragonetteâ€.[/blurb]To counter the nebulous months to come, drummer Darren Shearer and keyboard player Jamie Shields have developed “The JOINâ€- a musical unit that will host a revolving door of musicians depending on what area of the world they’re in as well as what show setting they find themselves a part of. The May west coast tour marks the first set of shows for “The JOIN†and they are excited to announce that for that run the band will feature the bass stylings of David Murphy (STS9).The New Deal’s music, rooted in improvisation, is based on creating and developing actual songs and themes in the moment. This new project will allow them to spread their wings and share this creative ethic with other musicians from many disciplines and backgrounds. This promises to be a very exciting project and should not be missed. Also not to be missed are upcoming shows for the OMEGA MOOS, the extremely bumpin super-group featuring Brendan Bayliss and Ryan Stasik (Umphrey’s McGee) and of course, Jamie and Darren (TND). Become OMEGA MOOS' "friend" HEREThe JOIN will be announcing more shows in the next week. nibbler
Pretty ironic that some nights there would be no more than a dozen of us attending, and now a 'west coast tour'!The Join at Harmony were the good ole days for sure!
