Guest Low Roller

A lot of stuff was already covered in this thread.

I listened to a lot of albums, but obviously not ALL the albums, so my list does not knock any particular band due to omission, unless I explicitely state it otherwise... here goes.

my favourite release this year (Cassadaga) was also my fave concert of the year...Bright Eyes

I didn't catch the Conor Oberst buzz until I was fortunate enough to see Bright Eyes at Massey Hall (thanks Jakis!) back in May.

From the moment I found my seat, I was out of it again in shear musical bliss!

My runner-up live shows this year would have to be the TSOOL shows (I saw 2 out of 3)during the NXNE festival..fucking awesome!

Stephen & Damian Marley was also a GREAT show!

My biggest disappointment I guess was WEEN at The Docks.

I also REALLY regret not getting my ass out to see Black Mountain when they were here in October :(

I summarized my thoughts in that earlier thread, but here's my ranking as I feel today. I don't think anything touched Boxer this year. Love is Simple was a return to form for A/F after the less than stellar Meek Warrior (as if they've put out 4 albums in 3 years).

1. The National - Boxer

2. Akron/Family - Love Is Simple

3. Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog

4. Field Music - Tones of Town

5. Wilco - Sky Blue Sky

6. Do Make Say Think - You, You're A History In Rust

7. Wintersleep - Welcome To The Night Sky

8. Radiohead - In Rainbows

9. Stars - In Our Bedroom After the War

10. Kings of Leon - Because of the Times

Honourable mentions:

Miracle Fortress - Five Roses

The Besnard Lakes are the Dark Horse

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible

Feist - The Reminder

Wooden Stars - People Are Different

Best concert I saw - Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, June 29 2007, Somerville Theatre, Boston MA.

Best bar show - The motherfucking Zoobombs, Oct 18 2007, Paramount Lounge, Moncton NB.

Best show that no one saw - Golden Dogs, Mar 29, Paramount Lounge. The Dogs rocked like they were playing Wembley to all 6 of us in attendance.
