boiler rat
My wife's Nano mysteriously died the other day. Does anyone have experience with sending them back for repairs? Is it worth my while? It's just a 4gb, but I'd hate to see it just end up in the garbage.
jaybone
The hard drive on my 30 gig ipod failed recently as well. I'm hoping to get it repaired rather then replaced as well. If anyone has had any experience in these matters, I would like to hear about it as well.

Make sure you try EVERYTHING though. Reset it, reboot it, restore to factory defaults, etc. All that info is on apple's site somewhere
boiler rat
I've done all sorts of voodoo on that thing, it's dead. I really doubt that I can fix it for much less than the replacement. I don't know what kind of price ipod repairs would usually run. Those 4gb Nano's are only $150 now. Bestbuy has the 160gb for $350. That's sweet. Ms.Huxtable
Mine died as well and I just could not bring myself to pay full price for something that we already bought. I replaced mine with a refurbished version from apple and purchased the apple care warranty. It came to cheaper than a new one, is the exact same as my old one but has more protection with the warranty.
secondtube
wow those things die easily....
ollie
If these things are so fragile why not just buy a 6GB Phillips mp3 player for $39.99?http://www.factorydirect.ca/catalog/product_spec.php?pcode=PH6000At least when it dies in a year you won't be surprised and you'll have saved a lot of money. Also: no hassles synching with iTunes. Just plug it into USB and drag and drop like any other hard drive device.
AD
looks like i've had some good luck with my ipods. my 40 gig third-generation has been alive and kicking since fall 03, and my shuffle has been working fine for 2 years now.
