Who makes a mean sangria?

Cheap wine is totally fine - save your money for the following:

Mango

Raspberries

Blueberries

Blood Oranges or regular

Grapefruit

A few limes and or a Sour orange (it's a speecific type of orange that's...orangey and sour)

What I usually do is leave all of the fruit soaking in wine for an hour or so. You can use what's affordable. Beaujolais always works well and so does a Tempranillo (Spain or Portugal).

Then top up as you like with:

A can of five alive

Club Soda (Refrigerate it first so it stays fizzy)

Maybe ginger ale or sprite though that might make it too sweet

Orangina....though it's pricey and might also be too sweet for your tastes.

Than bang some ice in there, take your top off and start consuming!

We made Sangria for our wedding last year and it was gone within 30 minutes!

Red wine (cheap is fine, we used homemade)

Cointreau

orange slices

berries

Sprite

Club Soda

Because we made about 8 buckets of the stuff I can't help you with proportions for smaller batches, it's really by taste. I remember doing equal parts club soda to Sprite though.

It was MMmmmmmmmy

This also stewed for 1 week in the buckets. Then we strained the batch and topped it off for serving with fresh fruit.

that sounds yummy, wish i remembered it ;)

it also looks quite simple to make once you've figured out the proportions. i'll try that next time.

this is the recipe i make sometimes:

1.simmer for 10 min:

* 1 cup water

* 1/2 cup sugar

* 3 cloves

* 1 cinnamon stick

* 3 lemon slices

2. Add 4 cranberry tea bags and simmer 5 more minutes (any fruity tea would be ok i'd think)

3. strain

4. Add and then chill:

* 1 bottle white zinfandel

* 2- 4 Tbsp brandy

* 1/2 pint strawberries

* 1 orange in chunks

5. When ready to serve add 1 cup club soda and serve.
