Hossa's agent just announced that Marian will test the free agent market after they rejected the Penguins offer, making him most likely the biggest free agent of the summer.

NHLcaps.com has a list of all the free agents on July 1st. It's quite the list.

Lecavalier = $77million over 9 years in Tampa ?!?!?!

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=241633&lid=headline&lpos=topStory_main

The final touches are still being worked on and nothing can be formally announced until July 1, but sources tell TSN the Tampa Bay Lightning and superstar centre Vinny Lecavalier have agreed to terms on a mega-deal that will pay him $77 million over nine years.

The annual salary cap hit to the Lightning will be about $8.55 million for the length of the contract, but the final year of the contract is said to be only for about $3 million, which means that if Lecavalier retired after eight seasons, his average salary would be as much as $9.4 million.

The deal comes with the expected "no-movement" clause and should guarantee that Lecavalier will finish his NHL career with the team that drafted him No. 1 overall.

Sources say there are still some minor structuring aspects of contract required for it to become complete, but the announcement should made on or sometime just after July 1.

Making sure he stays to build a team around him and Stamkos! not bad.

The rights to Gary Roberts and Ryan Malone traded to Tampa Bay for a fourth round pick in the next entry draft. That pick becomes a third round pick if Malone signs with Tampa Bay.

Meanwhile Gary Roberts already came to terms with Tampa Bay and will not be the Leafs captain next season. Sorry Kev.

Sunday night, it just keeps coming...

Edmonton has acquired Lubomir Visnovsky from LA for Jarret Stoll and Matt Greene.

Brian Rolston's rights have been dealt to Tampa Bay. Looks like TB is attempting to be this year's Flyers. Vinny-Prospal-St.Louis and Stamkos-Malone-Rolston is quite an improvement on their top 6.

The new owners are really going to town in TB aren't they? Just yesterday the Montreal Gazette had an article on Rolston, and that the Habs should target him if they don't sign Sundin. Oh well... (to both?)

The Washington Capitals have agreed to terms with restricted free agent defenceman Mike Green.

Sources tell TSN it's a four year deal with an average annual salary of $5.25 million.

Green, a first round pick by the Capitals in 2004, had 18 goals and 56 points in 82 games last season. He was third in playoff scoring on the team with seven points behind Alexander Ovechkin and Alexander Semin.

Green will begin his fourth season with Washington this fall.

" It is believed that Sundin will ultimately choose between the Red Wings and Rangers, though he is not expected to make a commitment today. A meticulous man, Sundin essentially will decide whether he'd like to complete his career playing for hockey's Swedish-North American franchise in Detroit - and the NHL's model organization - or playing in America's most glamorous city. Rumour has it that Rolston turned down the Lightning's offer.

I'm waiting for Booche to jump in and verbally cheapshot me for posting rumours, but I am really fucking bored at work today.
