The countdown is on for the 9th Annual Evolve Music and Awareness

Festival! This staple of the East Coast summer music scene will take

place over the weekend of July 25-27, set in a spectacular location

with breathtaking Atlantic coast vistas just outside Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Evolve is a grassroots festival that has grown to become a showcase

for music, environmental issues; and a celebration of the beauty that

is uniquely Maritime. It is entirely dedicated to sustainable

environmental stewardship; the largest festival of its kind in Canada.

Thousands will enjoy, a significant percentage of which will travel

from outside the province to enjoy three days of great music from over

40 different acts on multiple stages.

Evolve strives to present the best musical performances of the summer,

and this year is no exception. With new favourites and old, we will

dance ourselves across the musical spectrum --from rock to jazz to

funk, from world music, to hip hop, to electronica, and back again.

From festival mainstays like Slowcoaster, Grand Theft Bus and the

Gratefully Deadicated Soundsystem, to the return of the

still-talked-about That One Guy, and Newfoundland's Hey Rosetta!, Evolve offers

something for just about everyone's live music taste buds. And when

the sun goes down, the DJs come out to shine – from Steve the Viking

to Sonny D, Mizz Maxine to DJ Dono.

Besides offering amazing music, Evolve is committed to being one of

Canada's greenest events – and this year has upped the ante by

declaring the festival to be zero-waste. Evolve strives to set a

standard for sustainable festivals -- by utilizing renewable energy

sources, using recycled paper and vegetable-based inks for all printed

materials, biodegradable plates and utensils for food vending, organic

cotton and hemp t-shirts, reducing waste and environmental impact and

most significantly providing a forum to network and learn more about

social and environmental issues. In addition, Evolve will plant a tree

for every ticket sold, in cooperation with In Ticketing and Trees For

the Future. Also on the holistic awareness tip, there will be a

number of workshops offered in the Awareness Village. From the magic

of wheatgrass, to straw bale construction, to yoga, massage, and

Reiki, the festival has many opportunities to help you evolve your

body, mind and soul.

The three-day Evolve festival has general camping as well as a

quiet/family camping area. There will be full-service facilities

including running water, portable washrooms, clean drinking water, and

shower/wash stations. There is also a kids' play zone with organized

activities and music for the youngsters and, as usual, a vendor's area

will offer a diverse range of scrumptious food to keep people

energized. The vendors' area will also feature many unique crafts and

garments.

Exclaim Magazine says "Evolve Serves as the summer's marquee event of

the Maritimes"

Pitchfork Media chose Evolve Festival as one of their top Festival in their guide to the 2008 summer festival season

CBC Radio says" Evolve is one of the Top Ten Summer Festivals of 2008"

event and rapidly recognized as THE alternative and green music event

of the summer. Hats off to the Evolve Team!"
