This story is in fact an April Fool’s joke and we at the Canmore Leader would like to take the time to apologize for deceiving our readers. We’d also like to thank the mayor and the staff at the Canmore Hotel for playing along with the joke and we wish the hotel at least another 118 years of success. April Fools!

It takes those folks a while to get stuff up on the internet.

Apparently it created quite an uproar with the towns folk and suppliers and stuff, people who hadn't been there for years have been stopping in to have one last drink.

So what you are saying is that people in Canmore can't read or just don't finish whatever it is they are reading? The full article with my quote from above would have been in print on the day in question........

Only a part of the article was on the front page with that headline, you had to go to page 3 to find the rest of the article. And Yes, I would blame it on the "headies" and people not reading the whole article.
