SaggyBalls
Under cross examination, O'Brien's defence lawyer Michael Edelson tried to paint Kilrea as a political opportunist who seemed to run for office at whim. He quoted Baird‚s statement to police describing Kilrea as someone who sought influence and power in the city. Kilrea disagreed with that assertion.Edelson was also relentless in asking Kilrea to remember dates and people from other past political endevours. Kilrea sometimes struggled to remember. Why should opportunism matter? he was bribed. O'Brien even just admitted to it.

SaggyBalls
my bad...Kilrea testified the 'we could have just ratfucked you' line...but if that's found to not perjured Kilrea...is the nail in the coffin.
ollie
For the uninformed:Politics: Formerly known as "the double-cross," it refers to infiltration and sabotage of the opposition party, particuarly during (but not limited to) an election campaign. The second half of "All the President's Men" describes ratfucking done to 1972 Democratic presidential candidates by employees of the Committee to Re-Elect Nixon.Ken Clawson, Nixon's communications director, confessed to a ratfuck when he told how he forged a letter making it look like a Democratic candidate was a racist.A typical ratfuck is to falsely claim there's a political rally for the opposition party, order 300 pizzas for delivery in the name of the party, and then nobody shows up.http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ratfuck

Freak By Night
I'm following this case with a fair bit of interest. A lady I used to work with is Larry's niece, she'll probably be called as a witness.

ollie
Agree about the sketch artist. It's really nice to see those images.Kilrea sounds like an awful witness and O'Brien will walk, err, swagger out of the courtroom.
Booche
I was just skimming over some of this. It appears as though Edelson is trying to paint Kilrea as a scorned individual who wanted to get back at O'Brien and is also trying to show inconsistencies in the testimony. Sound about right? ollie
Yep.Kilrea might be telling the truth but no court is going to believe him now.
