Guest Low Roller
Thought that this was cool and that I would pass it on for everyone's enjoyment. Beck got together with a bunch of random friends (including Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich) for a special project entitled Record Club. The idea behind the project, is that from time to time they would get together, pick out a favorite album of theirs, re-record the entire thing in a day and post the results online. After deliberating which album to pick (I think that Digital Underground's "Sex Packets" would have been unreal), they agreed to do the classic album "Velvet Underground & Nico". Here is the first cut from that session, the album's opening track "Sunday Morning": Record Club: Velvet Underground & Nico 'Sunday Morning' from Beck Hansen on Vimeo. I'll post updates as they become available.
TheAlphaNerd
Fantastic!Love the band, and love hearing bands cover them. Phish's Rock and Roll the other night was pretty awesome too!
Guest Low Roller
I can't wait to hear how they cover "Venus in Furs" which is my favorite track on the album. Here is a version of that song by original VU member John Cale:
Guest Low Roller
Here's "Waiting For My Man". I find that it's a bit of a trainwreck, but it has all sorts of signature Beck weirdness:
SaggyBalls
After Sea Change Beck really sounds sad or hurt or something to me.(how eloquent, I know)This seems like a very cool project. I like what you've posted, Low Roller.
jayr
Love Beck and that tune. Watched it yesterday though and I wasn't all that impressed. Other than the vocals there's absolutely no resemblance to the original at all. Still it's weirdness is somewhat interesting.
Northern Wish
Not the biggest fan of his cover of Dylans "Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat" either. Maybe Beck should stick to writing Beck songs......and the Scientology of course.
