Wilco w/ Feist on Letterman tonight

Also, Yo La Tengo, Ed Droste from Grizzly Bear and Feist guested with Wilco last night in NY

A perfect night. A beachside locale. "I'm Always in Love" and "Can't Stand It" back-to-back. Life-stopping guitar solos by Jeff Tweedy on "At Least That's What You Said" and Nels Cline on "Impossible Germany". (Seriously, can we make up some award to give Cline for his never-miss spotlight on that track?)

Last night's Wilco show at Coney Island's Keyspan Park was safely above par even before Feist, Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste, and show openers Yo La Tengo all came out to help the headliners on a few songs near the end of the show.

First was Feist, who air-strummed and sang on "You and I", her low-key Wilco (The Album) duet with Tweedy. The Canadian songstress-- who has been making a habit of these surprise appearances lately-- was game enough to hang around to sing backups and clap alongside Droste for a few numbers including "California Stars". (Looks like Droste and Feist had some fun on the Cyclone before the show, too.)

Finally, Yo La Tengo came out to help burst first-encore ender "Spiders (Kidsmoke)" wide open, its kraut-meets-classic rock epicness sounding especially grand this time around.
