phishtaper
im curious ... my local union voted 58% in favour of strike action, which does not meet the national union's constitutional requirement of two-thirds support for it to authorize the strike. (two-thirds is the universal benchmark for strike action, it seems.) technically, this would kill the strike. that said, though, local reps are saying that the national president has the personal power to override the constitution and go ahead and order the strike anyway. anyone ever heard of such a thing or know about stuff like this? anyone ever even heard of a union going on strike with only 58% support?
