Ben Harper and Jack Black on Leno

We just saw Jack Black and Ben Harper combine forces to cover Under Pressure on Leno's show. That's great segment with lots of potential. It was on by accident, btw.

Didn't really do much for me. That's a big song that needs a home run swing, and the novelty of the pairing wasn't enough to make it work for them.

that particular pairing could have definitely used Jack in a bigger way. I'm just hoping that this will do something different for musical performances on tv. they don't ALWAYS have to show case the latest indie/pop sensation sweeping myspace and twitter.

novelty is right, i thot it was god awful. it certainly didn't show harper's capabilities - which was a real shame because his new band is incredible. as much as black's tenacious d stuff is entertaining, i just can't get past the fact that he mugs for a living. his bug eyes made the song a joke.

They don't. Not always, anyway. I've seen Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal and Smokey Robinson all on Conan since he took over the Tonight Show.
