Decemberists

Really? I found it really disappointing.

In no particular order..

Deer Tick - Born On Flag Day

Bill Callahan - Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle

Monsters of Folk

Rural Alberta Advantage (sure it came out up here last year but it came out on Saddle Creek this year so :P )

Japandroids - Post Nothing

Islands - Vapours

The Dead Weather - Horehound

Matt & Kim - Grand

soooo... many more I can't think of right now.

Honestly, only album I actually bought this year that was new would be: Haymaker! by the Gourds.

Not that there wasn't a ton of good music out there I liked, just for some reason the last two years I've been addicted discovering old music, pre-war blues/folk/old-time and rag-time etc

I love the Timber Timbre and Bill Callahan albums too.

BUT

I love these more:

Fever Ray- Fever Ray (dark electronica)

Bibio-Ambivalence Avenue (airy electronica)

Tiny Vipers- Life on Earth (singer songwriter)

Mos Def -The Ecstatic (er..Mos Def-ish)

Caspian-Tertia (postrock/ambient)

Grizzly Bear- Veckatimest

Destroyer- Bay of Pigs EP

Eels - Hombre Lobo has been one of my fav's of the year, also Paterson Hood's - Murdering Oscar is great. I'd love to see Hood do a mini set of songs from this CD Sunday night (if I can find a babysitter, things aren't looking good on that front right now).

I just got into this band....good stuff

Unbelievably good band. Paul Banwatts's dance beats with a snap make such a nice compliment to Nils voice and lyrics. I just heard the tracks that are going to be on a new 7 inch. Beautiful.
