badams Posted January 7, 2010 Report Share Posted January 7, 2010 The first official IIHF Under 20 tournament was 1977. Finland finished 4th, by 1980 and 1981 they won the silver medal those years. I get what you are saying but Finland was a bad example. Every year this tournament keeps recycling the worse team and brings up a team from the Group A Division 1 where teams from Japan and Denmark fight it out. Germany won the Group A title this year and will be joining the big boys in Buffalo next year. Jaimoe Posted January 7, 2010 Report Share Posted January 7, 2010 I was a little surprised that the Germans got relegated last year. I was in Germany in September and hockey is on the radar there. I must say though, that the Swiss impressed me, not so much with their record, but on how they played.
