bONES
Good luck over there if you go, hope you have good security! well, I got the phone call today. The position is mine (yes boiler rat..I'll be welding).I will be signing a 7 month contract and working/living at the Kandahar Air Field. There are 15,000 people (soldiers & civilians) there and it is very secure. If I miss the comforts of home there is a Tim Horton's there, Burger King, etc. It's looking like I will be shipped out on August 15th or 18th. I REALLY have to see Radiohead on the 15th so I am hoping for an August 18th departure. My new employer will be the Department of National Defense. I'm excited and nervous as I think I have ever been.I can't wait to get this [color:purple]party  started!peacebones

bouche
If Tim Horton's and BK become your comfort food, that would be terrible. I'd rather eat Military MRE's!I hope it is a great experience for you.
AD
I'd rather eat Military MRE's!I know the sentiment you are going for, but no you wouldn't rather eat MREs. There's a reason they call them Meals Refused by Ethiopians. Disgusting.

There's a reason they call them Meals Refused by Ethiopians. Disgusting. [/quote']gonna be honest here. growing up, my dad always had these things ready for camping. i fucking loved them. They may have changed since the seventies, and as a kid, things like that are more fun that tasty.i'd probably enjoy something out of nostalgia, but other than that, you got me. I'd love a fucking whopper in Afghanistan.
headymamamyrna
I was going to write about feeding my kids that stuff and yes some of it was good especially in the bush camping.Oh the thoughts of it now but it was good then.
