bradm
He's playing in Ottawa on Friday night, and his backing band includes Tal Wilkenfeld on bass, and Vinnie Colaiuta on drums (both of whom played with Jeff Beck last year, IIRC). (Mike Essoudry's octet plays before Herbie, and is well worth checking out.)Aloha,Brad

nibbler
Its not the scene at Nathan Phillips that I'm worried about- its getting there from out of town. I've heard the highways will be closed on and off to accommodate the transportation of the fascis- er, delegates.
Kanada Kev
The TD Jazz site lists this as his band for the show on Sat: The Imagine Project is Herbie Hancock, Vinnie Colaiuta - drums, Lionel Loueke - guitar, Greg Phillinganes - keyboards, Tal Wilkenfeld - bass and vocalist to be announced. I'd LOVE to hear this lineup. Colaiuta and Wilkenfeld will be treats to experience for sure!

Kanada Kev
OK, so i gave it one listen. I'm NOT that impressed with this effort. Space Captain is kickass, but the rest is simply lackluster. The guest vocals are the downfall.Tracks 3, 4, 7 and 10 are standouts IMHO. MoMack
I'm in T.O. and have friends coming up for a beer fest Saturday. I've told them to plan to come hours early. Also, if you're trying to drive downtown, you may have problems parking. All the spots I usually park near Nathan Philips, albeit southwest of there, are closing all weekend starting tonight at 11pm.The other thing to keep in mind, almost anywhere I've been downtown for the past few days, if I do a 360 degree turn I count between 10-20 cops. No joke. My concern is that they're all going to get bored and I'm going to get a speeding ticket for going 43 in a 40, or a ticket for swearing in public or something stupid. Bored cops scare me.So to make a long story short, unless you're a huge Herbie fan, I honestly wouldn't bother. But I'm old and lazy too.
