Hold The Mayo?

CHATHAM, Ont. - Police in Chatham, Ont., have charged a woman with assault after her boyfriend was punched twice — the first time in an alleged dispute over a sandwich.

Investigators say a man made his girlfriend a sandwich Monday evening and when she only ate half, she said he could have the other half.

A short time later, police say the woman became infuriated that the sandwich was missing and punched her boyfriend in the face.

Police say later in the night the two became involved in an unrelated argument and she punched him in the chest.

A 27-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with two counts of assault.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing

A 38-year-old Chatham man is charged with dangerous driving after allegedly burning rubber and doing a doughnut in front of Chatham-Kent police Wednesday afternoon.

Police said officers were conducting radar enforcement on Longwoods Road just outside Riverside Estates.

The accused allegedly drove up to the front gate entrance and laid down a track of rubber, squealed his tires and did his stunt.

The accused told officers that he was on private property and there was nothing they could do, police said.

He was charged and police remind citizens that criminal driving offences are applicable anywhere, including on private property.

Const. Ron Tricker said the dangerous driving charge was warranted in this case because of where the offence took place.

"This was the front parking lot of a community," he said, noting people and vehicles can be expected to be coming and going in that area.

He said demolition derbys and off-roading in a field aren't usually considered dangerous driving because the activity is contained and there isn't that expectation of members of the public getting in harm's way.

Maybe the stunt driver should hire the same lawyer who got Const. Ron Tricker off manslaughter charges... four years after being found guilty!

A 55-year-old Chatham man has learned the hard way that an E-Bike is considered a motor vehicle under the Criminal Code.

Chatham-Kent police received a call about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday from a concerned citizen who watched a man hit a curb, fall over and his head while operating an E-Bike.

Police said a witness stated the man refused assistance, picked up his bike and continued on to The Beer Store in Richmond Street in Chatham.

The caller followed the man and police located him on King Street West with a case of beer strapped to the E-Biike. The man exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested, police said.

The accused was charged with impaired driving and failing to provide a breath sample. He was released with a future court date and his vehicle was towed from the road, police said.

Pffft. You ain't got nothing on the serious problems we have here on PEI. Check out this story I sent to Booche not too long ago:

Roundabout Courtesy Causes Confusion

Islanders have been having trouble adjusting to a new Charlottetown roundabout, in part because they're too courteous for their own good.

The roundabout on Allen Street opened two weeks ago.

City officials aren't surprised to hear of drivers stopping in the middle of the traffic circle to let people in.

"We would consider ourselves, Canadians and Maritimers, to be a courteous type of people," said Paul Johnston, the city's manager of public works. "Just in generally driving the roads, you'll often see people that will yield their own right of way to others and wave them on."

Oh, the horror:

Irma Gallant said people have waved her throughout the roundabout.

"I had the yield, and I yielded. But they said 'go.' So, I don't know if I was supposed to go or not, but I did."

Drivers, in fact, are not supposed to stop in the roundabout.

Johnston said he's hopeful people will get the hang of it soon.

The headline killed me here:

Townie kids nabbed in Clarke's Beach

A report of suspicious activity in a town in Newfoundland's Conception Bay has led to an investigation involving young people from St. John's.

RCMP said the force received a report of suspicious-looking people hanging around a property in Clarke's Beach early Thursday morning.

Police said two cars, an all-terrain vehicle and a dirt bike are among the items believed stolen by four young people from St. John's.

Police arrested a boy, 17, and a girl, 14.

Staff-Sgt. Rick Robinson said the pair is accused of stealing a car in Bay Bulls to make their way to Clarke's Beach. Officers apprehended them on a back road, with a stolen ATV nearby.

"They were obviously on a spree of committing thefts … Who knows the timeline for these young people, how long they were on the go and how many communities they may have visited," he told CBC News.

Robinson said officers believe two young men were also involved.

A man, 21, was later apprehended in St. John's, and police were still looking for the fourth suspect.
