Two that stick out immediately for me are:

1) Vishwa Mohan Bhatt - the man, the legend, the creator of the mohan veena.

2) Kinobe - I saw this guy and his band play in Kampala, Uganda 2 years ago, and they put on an excellent show. He plays a kora, or something like it.
