Restrepo - doc about US troops in Afghanistan

Watched this last night and was really impressed. A great documentary following the efforts of a group of US soldiers on their tour in the most dangerous region in Afghanistan.

I really liked the fact that it didn't really go into the political side of the war, but rather just on the humans that are the soldiers on the ground doing the grunt work. Holding an outpost and being surrounded by enemy fire 24/7. The mental, emotional and social impact. Questions about what it will be like to readjust (if at all possible) to life back home after experiencing what they did.

The footage is all first-hand documentation. No re-enactments or anything. Raw. Emotional.

Yeah, snagged this last night. Looking forward to watching it. National Geographic docs are always well-done.

Yup. It's a real eye-opener. You can really get an understanding of how must the troops in these regions are "sitting ducks" and easily ambushed. Scary shit.
