Does the U2 rumour jibe with the Moncton date routing wise? I wonder if Michael Cohl and Monahan know each other or if Cohl would accept U2 playing any festival other than their own (he's known for both revolutionizing the concert industry and figuring out how to squeeze every ounce of ancillary revenue out of a show - Bluesfest doesn't seem like a match to the mentality).

I feel like beyond the tangible rumours the skies pretty much the limit. I'm thinking more from the perspective not of routed tours but programming choices relevant to the last year. Not sure who immediately comes to mind... I bet Young Empires gets a booking at Black Sheep...

Does routing even matter for U2? They'll probably be based out of NYC for all these shows anyways. Their trucks can get to all the dates no problem.

Having said that, I really don't think U2 will be playing Bluesfest. But that's probably what Monahan wants everyone to think right now.

Oh and if that's the case, prepare to pay through the nose this year.

totally different bluesfest, but definitely a good rumour surrounding this one:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kitchener-Blues-Festival/89091900908

kitchener bluesfest has already announced:

Johnny Winter

Edgar Winter

John Mayall

Bob Margolin

Pat Travers

sadly Pinetop Perkins passed away recently..

and many more, ALL for free!

now on to the BIG rumor! it has been repeatedly making the grapevine that KBF is in negotiations for...wait for it....

Greg Allman!

so stoked if it's true! official final lineup announcement on April 1. the Greg Allman show will probably be for the special Thursday night gig in Victoria Park that i believe will be a seperately ticketed event but still part of the fun that is Kitchener Bluesfest. keep the weekend free, i think Bob at Shakedown has got some competition for his bash this year;)

My guess is that the tent will be back strictly as a comedy venue with a separate ticket every night.

U2 will never play Bluesfest, the logistics are impossible.

I'll add the following just because they are on tour and in Toronto around the time of Bluesfest. No rumor, just an educated guess.

Diana Krall

Ben Harper

The Black Keys

Girl Talk

Rise Against

A Perfect Circle

The Weakerthans

Tokyo Police Club

The Arkells

The Reason

Dinosaur Bones

Hollerado

My Morning Jacket

Jimmy Buffet

Kenny Chesney

Johnny Winter
