Anyone here have a myspace page?

Recommended Posts

I just created a myspace page for the Blurry Pickers and I uploaded a couple of songs. When I go to the "artist" tab, they are there but they don't play and when I press on my profile tab they don't show up under the music heading?!?!?

Anybody know why this might be happening?

*edit to add* - I have dragged the songs over to the public songs section so that shouldn't be the problem

It has a release date for the songs/album - which I put as July 15, 2011 - could it be they won't play because that date hasn't arrived yet?

did you check the size and type of file?

**You can add songs up to 50 MB each in any of the following formats: .mp3, .wma, .asf, .ogg, .mpc, .ape, .wav, .mp4, .m4a, .mp4a, .au, .snd, .aif, .aiff, .ram, .ra, .rmvb, .aac, .tta, .ac3, .gsm, .flac, .flc, .wvc, .wv, .amr, .flv.**

Here are some discussions I saw;

If I might make a suggestion here... you may want to create a soundcloud account and use that instead/as well. People can comment at specific points in your track share it with their friends and it's easy to link to from your FB page. MySpace seems to be and has for some time now been on a major downward trajectory. It's not to say there aren't a lot of people still going there, but there are so many profiles and so much spam that the odds of having people find your page organically are slim. They've lost almost 30million of their daily reach over the last 12 months and it's not looking good.

It's really a good idea for bands to use all of the above stated media sites to get the word out there. I for one, as someone who books acts, still use myspace mostly to check out bands but that's likely because I started using it years ago and aren't much for media change.

MySpace is indeed a dinosaur - no one is on there anymore, so for networking it's DEAD. But it still cannot be beat as a one stop uber-quick site creator for bands' content.

There is no other place (yet) that for free, you can instantly create a 'blog entry, create a calendar for all of your shows, play your music, display all of your data, and have the page look *any* way you want, and embed content on the page, too. This last part is almost every MySp users downfall, for sure....

I totally agree, the last major upgrade make things.... suck. But a band still needs a MySpace, just as they still need a CD, crazy as that seems, too... ;-)
