I've seen listings in Toronto for the last week of June for John McLaughlin (June 23), David Sanborn (June 25), Trombone Shorty (June 26), Pink Martini (June 26), and Sharon Jones (June 27), which make me think/hope they'll be in Ottawa. Steep Canyon Rangers w/ Steve Martin are also listed (June 29), but they played last year.

Aloha,

Brad

I'm most looking forward to David Byrne & St. Vincent, still pissed at myself for passing on that show in a Montreal church last year.

That was the show of the year last year.

I'm very excited about the lineup. Especially looking forward to Aretha.

i wonder if they'll charge "extra" on top of the pass for Aretha...didn't this sort of extra charge happen before? or am i misremembering?

I don't remember it happening at Jazz Fest, but there was one Blues Fest when Van Morrison played on an "extra" day that required a separate purchased ticket, even if you had bought a pass.

Aloha,

Brad

Kevin Breit's website lists that Stretch Orchestra (a trio Kevin is in with Jesse Stewart and Matt Brubeck; they won a Juno in 2012 for instrumental album of the year) will be playing Jazz Fest on June 27.

http://ottawajazzfestival.com/index.php/artists/stretch-orchestra/

After being introduced by colleagues Jesse Stewart (tall), multi-instrumentalist Kevin Breit (taller), and cellist Matt Brubeck (tallest) began performing together in 2005. In 2012, they were honoured with the “Instrumental Album of Year†JUNO award for their debut, self-titled album.

In addition to being one of the tallest musical groups in Canada, with an average height of 6’5â€, they are also one of the most eclectic and musically well-travelled. In performance, they routinely traverse a wide gamut of musical styles—from jazz to rock to folk—often within a single tune.

Aloha,

Brad

The TD Ottawa Jazz Festival is happy to announce that our already stellar lineup has just been bolstered with two amazing additions!

On June 26 the Doobie Brothers will perform in Aretha Franklin's stead following her recent cancellation due to illness. The Grammy Award winning Doobie Brothers will be supported by The James Hunter Six earlier in the evening.

Aloha,

Brad
