Zappa Plays Zappa - tour de Frank

Freak By Night

Recommended Posts

Zappa Plays Zappa will embark on a tour celebrating the classic Frank Zappa album Roxy & Elsewhere. The band, led by Frank’s son Dweezil Zappa, will make their way across the U.S., Canada and Europe this fall and winter. Following the tour, Zappa Plays Zappa will pay homage to the album by performing at Hollywood’s Roxy Theatre on the 40th anniversary, to the day, of Frank Zappa’s epic series of concerts that produced Roxy & Elsewhere. A full list of confirmed dates can be found below.

As previously reported, the footage and recordings from Frank Zappa’s legendary Roxy run are being compiled into a concert film called The Roxy Performances. A trailer for the film was released back in 2003, but so far no full movie has been released.

Wow, six show in a row in Quebec with nothing in Montreal. Who does that?

Ooops...seven.

Shenkman huh? Never been, but I'll be there December 4th for Leon Redbone. just scored 2nd row tix.

Very likely in.

Wish they would have booked it at the Shenkman Centre if they were considering having the show outside the downtown core. I would have hosted a throw down.

Here's the venue by the way.

It's a nice little arts centre that's like a fifteen minute walk from my place (even closer if you guys are hopping on the 95 and going straight there). The theatre itself is super nice, not too big, great sound but they seldom book things I'm interested in (Orleans is a fairly different demographic).

I may pick up tickets but not right now, too much money is getting spent on too many tickets right now.

Either way, we'll have you guys over or meet you at the pub we drink at beforehand. It is about 2 minutes from the centre. They do a good burger (used to be great but it's just been good the last few times).

My dad saw a Gilbert & Sullivan show at the Algonquin Theatre a couple of weekends ago. He said it was nicer and more comfortable than the NAC. No comment about the sound though.

I have fond memories of my father telling me to turn off that 'awful music' many years ago when I was listening to Sheik Yerbouti.
